Air France First Class and Air France Business Class seat

BUSINESS CLASS : an angled lie-flat seat. Comfort is okay in sitting position, but full recline is
at an angle, and you tend to slide down the seat when trying to sleep : not good for side-sleepers. Seat width and length adequate, but it can feel quite
restricted, and privacy levels are poor. Comfort Score : 7/10
FIRST CLASS : a proper flat bed seat that is quite comfortable in both sitting and in full flat recline positions. Sear width okay, slight cushion discomfort in
flat bed layout. Seat style does and not offer much privacy. Comfort score : 8/10 |

EWR-CDG: Business class seat is narrow and very limited in terms of raising the foot extender up.
Big fixed air pillow on back of seat uncomfortable. Buttons offer limited mobility. It is impossible
to slightly lean the back and simultaneously raise the foot rest up. You basically have one control
which allows you to move from direct upright to totally sleep position. Terrible controls. I am 6'
1' and need the length for a comfortable position. I was trapped for part of dinner in a supine
position because the buttons would not respond. The Lady next to me: part of her foot rest fell off
and had to be put back on.

Paris to Bogota. Seat extremely uncomfortable and for the first two hours was fixed in upright position, because of
some power problem that flight engineer eventually fixed by flicking a switch. |

New business class (l' space affairs) seats very comfortable. Massage function (really just an inflating lumbar support) was nice. Slight sliding down feeling when fully flat Food excellent and good
quantity. Decent wine selection. There seemed to be a temperature control problem on the aircraft, and it was either too hot or too cold.

Seat was very comfortable even though is is not a 'flat bed'. I had done my homework regarding the cabin layout and chose the same seat for both journeys.
Overall I would be happy to use Air France again. However CDG and connections are another story.

Excellent cabin environment. The seat was comfortable for relaxing, dining, and working. However,
I just couldn't get comfortable in the sleep position. Like most others, I kept sliding down. I
think about 3" more of pitch would have also helped, particularly with feet when in the full recline
position. Shoe storage area is ok if you take a size 5 - any larger and its of no use whatsoever.

CDG-GIG-CDG. New L'Espace cabin is good, but the seat is woeful. Poor recline, no foot rest,
found it very uncomfortable. Food good, service poor outbound, attentive inbound.
Back to British Airways flatbeds for me

LAX-CDG-CPH (return) Business Class. Lax to CDG on a newer 777-300, with new business class cabin.
Excellent seat, friendly crew and good food. Lie-flat seats are generous, not as good as on Virgin or
British Airways. IFE on demand good but the range of choice could be improved. LAX Lounge is NWA and
is horrible. CDG-LAX on 777-200 with the old business class seat. I would at best call this Première
Economy! at a business class price! It was a disappointment to find on this 11-12 hour flight that
AF is still flying its old design, despite the fact that all they advertise these days is the new
Espace Première. If you want fly in Business with AF, make sure you verify with the airline that
the cabin on your flight has indeed been reconfigured. To sum it up, new Business Seat excellent.
Avoid old Business Class, unless you get it at an economy price!

First time I used the new Air France business class. Unlike previous reviewers I slept
well in the angled flat seat which offered lots of privacy. Good range of entertainment options.
Excellent new arrival lounge in Paris with fresh and clean individual bathrooms. Food on board
was good but no difference to Air France's economy class food apart from being served in china and with a table cloth.

Paris - LAX in New LÉspace Cabin. Seat was comfy in seating position with plenty of leg space, good width and head rest.
Sleeping position OK though not great. Did have to get up a few times and reposition myself. Excellent relax position
with extended leg rest and recline. Massage function a big plus. Could use a bit more higher leg rest extension in
relaxing mode. Overall Good seats and comfy but could be better.

ICN to CDG: Very good seats (new style), nice pyjamas and comfortable
duvet with good pillow. So you can get a very good sleep. Negative
aspect: poor food quality (worse than business class of BA, for
example): small portions and not tasty at all. FA not very attentive.
Except for the seat a quite disappointing experience.

Seats are
angled to the floor, which means people could slip down to the floor. I
managed to get a comfy sleeping position by not putting the seat fully
flat, but stopping a bit before.. |

CDG - Seoul. Great seats which although are inclined when fully extended
were comfortable with a few extra stolen pillows strategically placed
here and there - business class was under half full (so clear to rest
your feet on top of seat in front of you). Cabin looked very smart,
brand new. Food was 5 star - fresh, tasty, great selection, it was
difficult to know what to choose. Staff were generally efficient,
although I thought they a bit too eager at times, eg. whisking away
glasses or cups of coffee, which I hadn't finished.

Not what I would expect from a Business Class service. Flew from CDG to
ORD. Aircraft was fitted with the new Espace Affaires seating which
looks bright and fresh but really isn't that comfortable. Seat reclines
to a flat-bed position but it's slanted and you can't stop yourself from
sliding down if you try to sleep on it. Even worse, there is no proper
footrest or stopper that you can use to keep yourself from slipping
further - so it was really difficult to sleep properly on this. Service
was also appalling - crew were somewhat lazy, certainly not attentive,
took a long time to clear passengers' dinner trays and food was
mediocre. Whole Business Class product nothing compared with the likes
of Emirates or BA. Even my last flight with KLM in Business Class was
much better than this AF experience.

CDG-JFK. Comfort is standard for this class but catering is poor: originality of
meals is not always at best, courses and wines selection is very limited.
Breakfast is very suitable. Prestige label claimed by AF should mean Prestige
brands for wines and champagnes

Washington, Dulles To Paris and once again disappointed by being greeted
with the same old heavily worn business class seats. Have been hearing
for 2 years about AF's "new" business class cabins and seats and have
yet to experience them. despite numerous trips to and from Europe on AF
- I heard Washington to Paris was one of their businest routes with 3 flights
daily, yet flying on the Airbus 330 or Boeing 777 has not provided the
opportunity to experience these lie-flat seats

and you slide down, making it difficult to sleep for an overnight

New l'espace cabin with lie-flat seats. Better than the old seats of course, but
seats with an incline that makes one slide down to the floor all night.
Impossible to get comfortable. This is aggravated by the lack of a foot
support/stopper.

We have flown the ATL-CDG flight on three occasions, dinner, a couple of
drinks, and it's time for a VERY comfortable flight. I usually wake up a
hour or so before landing. I would rank this and Lufthansa's first class
seats/beds as excellent.

The bed, however, was one of the worst I have tried. I know it is
not meant to be truly flat, but the angle caused me to slip down all the
time, and I could never get comfortable. This was compounded by a very
dire IFE system and terrible service from a crew who just did not care.

comfort.
