My wife and I flew TXL-JFK in Air Berlin Business Class middle seats (1E and 1F). They were the most cramped Business Class seats we have ever flown in. I managed just one hour of sleep it was so uncomfortable. There is no room at all between the middle seats so no privacy whatsoever.

I do not like the new Business-design of Airberlin. As I am 190cm tall, the new lie-flat seats are a really joke. In the sleeping position you may not be taller than 170cm, otherwise it is extremely uncomfortable. The seat is also very narrow.

I thought the comfort and service would be sub par. With only a two class airline and a very empty business class (everyone had their own row) it had the feeling of first class, though I can understand privacy being poor if it were full. The seats were nice enough for sitting and comfortable reclining, but for sleeping it was hard to get into a good position. It was a slightly nicer version of the current AA international business class - the service was exceptional. Food and china were not up to par with some other European or Asian airlines but the crew friendly and accomodating. Food was very average, small but nice selection of wines. Highlight of the meal was warm german breads. Entertainment system in the new business class had good selection of movies from classics to newer releases.

Comfortable when seated but no good for sleeping. 2-2-2 layout doesn't afford any privacy. Entertainment systems 15 years behind the competition, only three movies offered on loop. In-seat power was offered but did not work. The current product is not up to scratch.

Out of date C-Class, non lie-flat seats! Service okay, and seat was comfortable for a day flight, but uncomfortable for sleeping. IFE also outdated, tiny screens with bad quality loop movies. Sound was bad as well and Y Class type headphones.
