Air China First Class and Air China Business Class seat

BUSINESS CLASS : the "latest" seat on some ml/haul aircraft is an angled
lie-flat (170 degrees). We found it quite narrow in both seated and reclined
position. Slide effect when sleeping is pronounced and no good for
side-sleepers. Footrest not much help on sliding angle. Cushion support okay (firmish)
and privacy somewhat lacking. Score : 7/10
FIRST CLASS : full flat beds are being fitted. Bed length is 75ins, and
comfort levels quite good. Swivel seat facility seems unnecessary, but 775
to some. In flat bed layout, the seat width is adequate - not particularly wide,
but shoulder area okay for most. The seat cushions are quite firm in bed format,
and privacy is not that good . Overall score : 8/10 |

Large seats on the Boeing 737-800 in Row 1-2 are Air China's First Class Seats.
These 738s only fly within China and some routes on short haul international
flights, such as Japan, HK, Singapore. Large pillows give you extra comfort and
folded table under arm rest. Nice product for less than 3 hours flight. There is
another folded tea cup holder under the other arm rest, which can be quite handy
to use, if not having anything to eat.

New York to Beijing. Seats fairly comfortable, though a little stiff and narrow. As far as angled
lie flat seats go, they are average - difficult to sleep on side. The service quality was mediocre.
Entertainment offered 8 movies.

Not the cleanest plane, people going back and forth to the cockpit all night bringing tea pots and
other activity. Obviously people are smoking in the cockpit - upper deck smelled. Food gets a C-
and service about the same. If you get a good price then maybe it is worth it.

A big step up in the creature comforts for Air China. Last year I swore to never to fly them
again. Travel agent convinced me that the new seats were comfortable and much less expensive then
UA from SFO to PKG. True enough, they were equal to or better then most. Service still sloppy and
most FA's were distracted by talking amongst themselves. Comparably, the cost to fly this route is much better then anything else, and I am glad for the seat upgrades. |

New interior with new seating. The best first class seat I have had. Very
comfortable even though it was new (some of the new ones have very hard foam).
Had a great rest and the service was attentive. Breakfast was not spectacular
but since the seat could swivel and convert into a working area with desk, I
managed to get a lot of uninterrupted work time. Bathrooms clean and were
cleaned every time someone used them. Air China has come a long way.
