BUSINESS CLASS : Austrian have a new angled lie-flat business class seat. In the upright position the seat width is fair, but we found it restricted in the fully reclined position. There is no proper privacy partition, and standards of seat privacy are rather poor. Comfort levels in the sitting/relaxing position are good, but in full recline the seat is angled down, and suffers the problem of sliding down the seat when trying to sleep. This may be okay for shorter intercontinental flights, but we found on longest sectors this is not a comfortable seat for side sleepers, and the cushion support is too firm. With this Business cabin targeted at a "premium" level, we feel Austrian should fit proper, lie-flat beds to achieve the correct comfort levels. Comfort Score : 7/10

Austrian new business class lie flat seat. Good seat in lounge position, but awful when flat. Kept sliding off the whole time. The 777 has a wide cabin, but 7 seats abreast (2x3x2) in business class is too many. Was seated in 3A/H and getting out, when the pax next to you has their seat in flat mode, is nearly impossible. Stay away from the middle seat if you do not know you seat neighbours.

VIE-PEK and back. Reasonable seat, but not really any wider than some premium economy seats. Plenty of adjustability for different standards of recline, including being able to avoid the sloping flat position for sleeping. Length ok, but a bit hard, could have done with extra padding. Could sleep ok on my back, but not so well on my side. When seated was adequate, useful places to store books and other bits and pieces. IFE was rather old-fashioned not AVOD. Privacy with neighbour is very limited unless both are fully reclined. The seat really needs to be softer, wider (5 abreast on a 767?) and of course truly lie flat.
