Herringbone seating configuration is good for privacy & seat access, especially on upper deck 747 where
there are only two rows. The seats are rather narrow although legroom is great. I had 4 separate
flights on various aircraft types, all the arms of the seat moved & rocked when leaned upon, very
annoying. The space behind the seat is great to leave some light objects, pillows or clothing. In the
bed position was flat and cushioning was comfortable, but again it was rather narrow, I had to fold my
arms to get into sleeping position. AVOD was great, TV screen large. However, during take off and
landing, it had to be folded up and there was no screens viewable elsewhere in the cabin to watch the
safety video! Not sure how they could get away with that on safety regulation grounds. Overall I was not
impressed with the new business class seats in particularly when my previous trip was on the New
Singapore Airlines Business Class - whose seats were so spacious and private.

Bed can be fully extended to 180 degrees, very comfortable. Entertainment system perfect. Seat is a bit
narrow if you are a bit wide.

I fly long and medium-haul flights on CX business class on a regular basis and can't understand why
people are tolerating the narrow business class seats given the price for business class tickets. It
seems that CX made a big mistake on the renovated business class cabin and to make it even worse, it
seems that it doesn't want to admit that it is a mistake. The cabin design is okay so to speak (save for
if you travelling not by yourself then you can't really talk to your companion in a comfortable manner),
Air Canada has the same business class cabin but its seats are wider than those of the CX. I hope CX
finally will admit this mistake and do something about it.

New herringbone seating arrangement. Agreement with many of the comments about uncomfortably closed in
feel of the cabin, narrowness of the seat (unable to comfortably read a newspaper due to lack of elbow
room), difficulty in looking outside the cabin. When upright for landings and take-off a passenger's
face is less than a foot from the hard edge of the pod. To make matters worse the sharp edge of the
reading light is exactly where my head would strike in any time of rapid deceleration.

Not a big fan of the business class seat arrangement. Though the privacy is excellent and the VOD
choices are numerous, it's difficult to adjust to the coffin-like environment. I had a sleepless 15 hour
flight but was satisfied with the food, the service and entertainment.

SFO-HKG. The seat was ok. When the seat was flat, it was fairly tight and I could barely turn my body
around. The entertainment system was sub-par - lack of popular music and few movie choices. Flight
attendants were not very responsive either.

CX herringbone layout design makes it difficult for the flight attendants to do their job, especially
for anyone using the AVOD system. Since CX has such an excellent AVOD, this means almost every
interaction with the crew is over the top of the screen and the pod wall. Very awkward socially and
physically, with lots of neck craning from the passenger and lots of reaching over from the attendant.
In addition, the pods angle away from the windows, making them almost useless and creating a literal pain
in the neck, and pods seem very narrow. It is difficult to read a newspaper when sitting, or turn over
when sleeping.

I found the new business class to be excellent, private if you are in the aisle (seats K) with only one
seat leading into it. I found the seat really spacious when reclined - especially compared to Qantas.
Very comfortable seat and easy to sleep when reclined. Mini-cabin style definitely not appropriate for a
couple though.

HKG-JFK. After spending the previous two days onboard Singapore Airlines in their new large Business
Class seats (777-300ER and A380 the Cathay Pacific angled seats do not in comparison, come even close to
the SQ seats for comfort and room. Although fairly comfortable (I did manage to get a few hours sleep on
this 16-odd hour flight) there is not a lot of room around you in the seat. I can't get used to having to
angle yourself to look out the window!

The 777-300 cabin layout is awkward and uncomfortable. There is a feeling of discomfort, constraint, and
tightness. The bed was too firm, but the width as a seat was good. Cathay should bring back the 747-400
on its US-HKG routes (747 First is a wonderful experience), or improve its first product. As it stands,
the 777 First is regretfully second tier.

As other reviewers have noted, the herringbone business class seats are narrow and could
be claustrophobic. However, the privacy, unobstructed aisle access, and fully flat beds
outweigh any the negatives. The movie selection, with older movie library, was great.
The greatest single advantage of this product was that I slept a solid 6 hours of the 12
hours flight!

The interior of this plane is shocking compared to the newer CX product. It is worn and
faded, the seats old recliners with manual controls only, limited recline, and limited
footrest. The padding on the seat was comfortable, and its width was generous, even in a
2x3x2 arrangement. IFE is a disappointment, and not just because these are archaic small
screens. The picture & sound quality is very poor. I believe CX mainly uses these
planes on regional routes, but if you expect better, or are considering a long haul
flight on one of them, I would recommend avoiding this product.

The real problem with these new seats is that they are very narrow. While the high walls
and herringbone arrangement give you privacy, some may feel claustrophobic. They are
fully flat, but if you sleep on your side, don't expect to adopt the foetal position as
the seat is too narrow. Length is good, at least on the upper deck. (I hear these are
slightly longer than the main cabin seats.) Also, don't expect to look out the window,
as they will be behind you. There is an adequate amount of personal space surrounding the
seat, with room for amenity kit, water bottle, reading material, etc. IFE is better than
most, with large, clear screens, a huge library of content, and controls that actually
work reliably.

The new seat and herringbone pattern favor the individual traveler. If you value privacy,
these seats are great. Couples and others traveling together might find them less
desirable because the walls between the seats. People traveling together would do better
with adjacent seats on the window sides - 19K and 20K, rather than the seats in the
middle. There is a cozy feel to the seats, which some might find a bit cramped. AVOD is
very good, with a nice selection of movies.

To my mind, this is the best First seat out there, even including the Qantas A380. Very
private, without the shut-in feeling of the compartments with doors used by some others.
Very wide seat and in-seat storage is handy. Big video screen. Very nice relaxing colour
scheme and the design and build quality is first rate.

Delhi to Hong Kong. terrible old fashioned seats you could not sleep on at all and not
that good when seated - when I asked why they didn't have more modern seat, said that
older seats were used for regional flights, I hardly regard 5 hr Delhi to Hong Kong
flight through the night as regional. Singapore has great 777 full recliner beds for
Delhi Singapore.
