BUSINESS CLASS : new seat offers good sleep comfort with improved cushion
support, and better privacy. Length adequate, width good for sleeping. Back to
front layout - some like it, others not! A good sleep. Score : 9/10
FIRST CLASS : older style pod seat. Offers fair sleep and seat comfort,
but now looking tired and lacks support, and privacy. A product that BA needs to
upgrade if it is to match competition. Overall score : 7/10 |

We flew business (pearl) class from LGW to Abu Dhabi and then on to Bangkok. Was very impressed with
the cabin although the service whilst very good is not what you get in club world on BA.
Seats on Etihad were very comfortable and enabled a good night sleep / cabin crew very friendly /
food / wine excellent.

For sleeping, the seats are very good but not great, and they are rather narrow. For eating, working
and reading the seats are great. Big table, adjustable distance to the table and very large screen.

Very impressed with the business class seat on the 777. The lie-flat
seating makes a huge difference. Whilst somewhat narrow the fully flat
position allowed me to get very good sleep. The best seat has to be the
middle window seat (I was in 7A) these give you superb privacy unlike
the ones on the aisle. The middle seating should be avoided unless
travelling with spouse. The entertainment was equal to most. The food
was ok but not outstanding.

BKK-AUH-JNB - very relaxed flight due to lie-flat seats.
Entertainment choice mediocre, service depends very much on cabin crew.
BKK-AUH very poor and staff was incompetent and disinterested. If you
want a comfy flight and don't care about the rest, fly Etihad.

A very good experience in terms of hardware (Lie flat seats, privacy and
aircraft layout) the best I have ever experienced. Software (Food and
service) a little bit to be desired.

LGW-AUH-BKK-AUH-LGW same product on every flight and the best J class
seats I have flown in. Yes they are narrow, but lie-flat comfort was
good. The sense of privacy in the window seats is excellent. Slept
well except AUH-BKK when the lights were turned out for just 1 hour.
IFE screen was great, but system was laborious to operate and movie
selection very americanised, tame and dull. The dual massage feature in
the seat was a great way to get the blood flowing again prior to
landing.

Seat recline to a complete 180 degrees to horizontal. Feeling of privacy as the
seats are singly placed and almost like a suite. Ample space for working and
storage. Power outlets available for charging laptops etc. 3 sources for light
including a foot light. Large TV screen. Overall a great value for money and one
of the best business class seats I have seen.

I've done a few flights in the new Etihad 777 cabin. Window seats are very
private and the length is fine when flat. But these seats are actually narrower
than Virgin's premium economy seats. And unless you like to sleep exceptionally
close to the person next to you, the two middle seats look best avoided!
Entertainment system seems prone to crashes and controls are a bit flaky. In
flight internet and power at every seat in all classes.

To be honest was expecting something rather special from Etihad and
disappointed. Its all very well bleating on about the new Boeing fleet coming,
but what about those of us that pay for comfort now, and find the whole
experience rather disappointing. Was prepared to give them a go, as fed up with
Emirates, and was looking to cut back on transfer through Doha - but now back to
Qatar Airways, who incidentally will have a stunning new First / Biz class
facility at DOH in a few months I'm told.

Airbus A330-200
First Class (Diamond Zone)
I have to say that in comparison to other First Classes like Singapore or
Lufthansa this is not the same league. My seat did not work on both flights, so
both times I had to change the seats. Even when changing the entertainment
system did not work properly, there were many faults and two resets. The value
for the price is excellent, but this is not top international standard.
