BUSINESS CLASS : an angled lie-flat seat. The comfort in upright and
relaxed position is okay, but cushion support on the firm side. The recline
position offers quite an angle, and with every best effort, you find yourself
sliding down the seat as you try to sleep. Definitely not comfortable for side
sleepers, but better if you lie on your back. Privacy is fair, but not matching
best practice standards of more recent seat pods. Comfort Score : 7/10
FIRST CLASS : an old-style First class seat. Comfort in seated / relaxing
position is good, with soft cushion support and reasonable seat width. Full flat
recline is provided, but this is the flat-bed style of seat so you do get bumps
and lumps in the reclined position. Privacy poor, and whilst okay for couple
travelling together, it does not offer comforts one expects in First Class
nowadays, and due for upgrading. Comfort score : 7/10 |

Everything in the other reviews regarding the angled flat-beds is true, especially on the 747. The
seats/beds themselves are very flimsy. The steep angle of the flat bed made me feel like I was
sliding down. |

FRA-LOS-FRA. I do like the seat, design and comfort. Always have a good night sleep on the way back
to FRA since this is a night flight. The angle doesn't bother me at all. But even during daytime you
can put the seat in the comfortable position you like to watch a movie or read. Enough storage,
overall an excellent seat with excellent legroom. |

The new seats are an improvement on the old, but they are obviously cheap and already starting to show
their age. MediaWorld is very good, with a wide selection and you can pause films, fastforward etc.
Headphones good, but let down by you having to put your own pads on, and they rip in an instant. These
are also showing their age. The seats themselves are uncomfortable, thin, and there's rarely a
position that's comfortable, either sitting, reclining, or sleeping. The angle for sleep is poor and I
have never had a good night's sleep on them without a sleeping tablet. |

I have flown BA and AF in business class and find that Lufthansa is the worst for comfort. The seats
do not lay flat and you constantly slide downwards. My controls stop working at one point and the
flight attendant had to reboot a computer in the seat several times before the seat would go back to a
normal position. TV never worked properly. A huge disappointment. |

Seat has a good range of adjustments, but doesn't offer the comfort of the Cathy Pacific seat, nor the
sleeping position of a true flat bed. While it is possible to sleep, taller passengers would have
difficulty getting comfortable. If you can get a seat in the very front of the Business Class section
you will have more privacy than the rear section, which has the 3 seats together. There is no privacy
in the middle seat in this plane. IFE was good, with a selection of recent movies on demand plus TV
and audio programs. Service was great and we had no problems with the cabin staff.

FRA-MEX-FRA. I slide down these angle-flat seats, can never get comfortable and
have disturbed sleep. None of the seat adjustments produce a comfortable sleep
position. A travelling colleague never has this problem - but she is, you could
say, wide in the hips, so her body is wedged between the arm rests. A natural
solution to the slide-down problem. Perhaps the angle-flat seats were primarily
designed for a population that has as an average, a large body frame size |

So bad it must be by design. Seats were so narrow I couldn't keep my
arms at my side. The angle when lying flat is such that you slide down
and wake yourself if you ever fall asleep. Controls are finicky and
guaranteed to put you into pretzel position at least once per flight.
My seatmate, a frequent Lufthansa flyer says he always watches to see
someone folded up inadvertently and laughs. Recaro should be ashamed to have
their name on these seats.

I concur with most of the other comments on seat quality, got very
little sleep on the FRA-ICN flight. Yes, it's angled flat, but as it's not
horizontal, you tend to slide down. At 1m98, could not stretch out completely.
There's not enough storage room around the seats, so if you want your laptop
conveniently accessible, and it's larger than a 14" display, you have to keep it
in the above storage bins. Movie selection on this segment was fantastic,
however, most of the recent Oscar-nominated films/actors. The control of the A/V
system, is terrible and the whole system on the plane died about 2 hours before
landing. Interestingly enough, the seat controls are via the same system, so
they had to do a minimum boot-up so everyone could change the seat position for
landing.

SFO-MUC-SFO on new A340-600. Seats were angled flat, but not full
recline. Somehow the seat pitch felt much less than other airlines. The
new seats have plastic body & shells; don't know how long they will
last. On the return flight, the tray table lid on the seat center was
broken (blame the plastic). AVOD was good with the noise canceling headset - but
selection limited.

Good seats, but a little more padding would do on the sides. Food remarkably
plain and unimaginative, choice of wines limited and not changing all year
round, one of the most primitive toilet kits in the airline business, not enough
toilets.

FRA-CPT seats firm and not very comfortable. Sleep difficult as seat
does not go completely flat and the "hinge" points dig in the body. As
the seat is at an angle the foot rest is essential to stop you sliding
down the seat - assuming you can get the footrest in the right position.
The armrests are hard plastic and could do with padding.
All very inferior to BA's flat beds which are much more comfortable.
Cabin Crew pleasant and food reasonable. 3 toilets in Business is very
poor when there are 2 for 8 people in first.

The seats are very comfortable for me without being too soft or hard and never
fails to impress me. It feel like an old comfortable armchair that you have had
for years and come home to to relax into. I do like the shape of it as well.
There is enough storage compartments for the person who like to have everything
but the kitchen sink around them whilst flying. What I enjoy the most is the
personal entertainment system that may appear basic to the naked eye but is
conveniently set on top of your right hand rest.

I had a seat in row 16 (BKK-FRA). It was terrible. the seat doesnt go flat (angled), because there
was the wall of the galley. the normal business seats from lufthansa are bad
enough, but in row 16 it was only an angle of approx 40 degrees possible.

YVR-FRA. November 2006. Cannot believe that Lufthansa paid a premium price for
these most uncomfortable seats. The lie flat means you slide down to the floor
each 5 minutes making sleep impossible. Amongst the worst of "new" Business
Class seats.

MUC-SFO. I tried the new business class for the first time. As a BA Gold
traveller it has to be said that the seats are flat but not fully flat or
horizontal. I therefore experienced the slide down effect and the in- flight
entertainment is unnecessarily complex to handle. The Internet is nice but this
service will get terminated by the end of the year

BLR to FRA. Despite all of the hype about Lufthansa's new business class cabins
& seats, the old style seats are still used 100% on this daily route. In my
experience (6 X round trips per annum), they are the WORST and most
uncomfortable flying directly between India and Europe. They don't fold anywere
near flat and sleeping on ones side is only possible in cases of near
exhaustion. As a Senator Class, I've complained many times to LH by email but no
response to date. Perhaps the fact that the flight is always full and the best
positioned seats mysteriously booked months in advance, means they don't really
have to try on this route?

747-400 on the FRA-HKG leg was equipped with new business class seats, but I
found it impossible to sleep in. The lumbar support was half way up my back, and
the headrest, even at its most extended height, was at my neck, not my head. I
am not that tall - 6'1". There is a bump in the seat when in the fully flat
position that raises your pelvis and creates an uncomfortable (and unhealthy)
gap between your body and the seat. Not ergonomic at all. The mechanical
controls were cumbersome and unresponsive. IFE is fiddly and complex to use. All
in all a depressing, disappointing experience on both the outward and inward
journeys.

Munich-Beijing. First the seats are not lie flat and angle down for you to slide
down. Sleeping on your side is difficult for this reason. Sleeping on your back
is not much better as I tended to find that my back arched up due to the angle
of the seat. The AVOD system was great although the selection of movies does not
change on the return journey.

DXB-FRA return. This is still old style biz seat - I am 6'4" so not enough room
to put legs up, old style foot support with metal bar is not long enough, knees
up. Uncomfortable old style -- This plane advertised "power" outlet - but every
one tested (including one in first) would not work -- my IBM Thinkpad would have
one sec. of power then the light would show the LH power system down. No one
else using their laptops, and Flight Attendant said they had same probLems on
other flights -- hello, fix it! Entertainment old style tapes only 3 movies and
not very good, with a little 4" smaller than postcard screen. They need to
compete with others such as Virgin, BA.
