SIN-HKG. The new business class is all its cracked up to be and even
more. Gucci duvet / pillow was a great touch too. I wished I was on a
longer flight so I could enjoy it more! If I could give six stars I
would. I hope SQ can upgrade all their business class seats to this
standard.

Rating:

The new business class seats are all they are hyped up to be, vastly better than
the Spacebed - but avoid rows 18 and 20 as there is no window and this makes for
a claustrophobic experience. In a full plane (FRA-SIN) the service can be a
little slow and there are only 3 toilets for 42 seats, not as good as 4 for 50
on the 747.

After a truly delicious lobster dinner served with a choice of wonderful
wine and after dinner port, we watched TV and the endless selection of
movies and other programs. When it was time for bed we were given a
package of pajamas and toiletries. This aircraft has 12 seats in first
class, each seat folds into a completely flat bed. I am 73" tall and
had no trouble stretching out completely without my head nor toes
touching. We had a very comfortable night's sleep. Everything was
perfect and the attitude of all employees, from check-in to finish, was
always helpful and positive.

The new seats are less comfortable compared with former B-Class
seats. The wide extension allows only one arm the armrest.
I rather found a comfortable position for sitting. Rebuild to a flat
bed, the comfort is OK, even for a man of 1,90 like me.
Result, good for night-flight, uncomfortable for day-flight.

SFO to India though SIN. Took care to book flights SQ15 / SQ16 since
these were the ones with the new business class. The seats are
excellent. On the way out my wife and infant baby were with me. Even
with bassinet there was plenty of space. The bassinet is not a hindrance
for the flat bed. However when the seat is converted to bed or vice
versa the bassinet has to be lifted a little. So make sure that you do
your conversion before little one falls asleep. The seats are fully flat
but the sleeping position has to be diagonal. I am 5'7" and had no
problems in lying flat. However a taller person might find the space a
little small. The seat has plenty of personal space and some neat little
amenities like a vanity mirror and plenty of small spaces to stow your
stuff. The screen is huge and inflight entertainment was great.
The seats are converted to bed mechanically. That is you push a latch
and fold the seat down. There should be little chance for failure here.
On my return flight my IFE had a problem and wold not work. The steward
promptly took care of it and had it reset and working again within a few
minutes.

MEL-SIN-LAX, JFK-FRA-SIN, all in 747 First Class. Excellent seat comfort, in my experience same
as BA and QF. Great service all round. Last leg, luckily daytime, SIN-MEL was on a 777 and First
was an old-style seat which was angled lie-flat in a 2-2-2 configuration. Frankly it looked like
Business Class - luckily I was not trying to sleep. There is sometimes a significant variation in
seats depending on aircraft age and type. First is overall fantastic though and highly recommended!

Boeing 777-300ER : Business Class
Rating:

The seats itself are huge, but too flat. Some contouring would have been good to
enable "sit up" support. But no complains about the personal space especially
with the cabin's 1-2-1 layout. Also forward space between seat and screen (which
are now huge by the way, 14 inch I think) is cavernous with loads of well though
out amenities built into the forward areas of the seat. (flanking left and right
of the screen). On the left you have a 'make up mirror' while on the right
you've a power source, internet line, space for knick-knacks etc. In your arm
rest are also very useful cubby holes. All in all these seats are great as they
can lie flat and the entire shell of the seats and forward areas are linked
providing passengers ability to lie completely flat, fully supported. Can't wait
to try these planes out on longer haul flights. Mine was a short jaunt between
S'pore to Hong Kong.

MEL-SIN on possible the worst business class seats in the SIA fleet. Given this
is an overnight flight, one would expect at least the space bed. Singapore staff
are great, but the old style business class on this service is very poor. No way
to get any sleep. To make matters worse, the advertising for the new Business
Class is everywhere, so this serves only to reinforce the pathetic seats on our
service. Come on SIA, upgrade the service or lose business to others.

I find it hard to beleive that SQ cannot offer either a first class or a decent
flat bed in business on their 18.5 hour SIN-EWR run. I was lead to believe that
the C class on this flight was "upgraded" to make it more spacious and
comfortable. Looked like all their other cabins. The best thing I can say about
the seat is that the mechanisms are so complex that they provide hours of
uncomfortable entertainment while you try and figure out how to optimize the
controls. Food, as usual was terrific, but how much can you eat while sitting
around?

At first I found the skybed on the SIN-LHR route quite wierd in that you slope
downwards and drift off to sleep feeling like you are going to slide off, and
the controls almost need a manual to operate, but I discovered that it is very
comfortable when you angle it upwards under your knees. The lumbar support was
insufficient though, and I had to put a pillow in the small of my back as well
as behind my head. It certainly beat the apalling old-style business seat on my
night flight from MEL-SIN (777) in which I could not sleep much at all.

LAX-SIN-MLE. Extremely disappointed in the spacebed. While the food and service
were top rate, that did little to mitigate the uncomfortable seat. My sleep was
frequently interrupted by constant sliding and the annoying bump in the seat. I
had heard for years about Singapore Airlines and was surprised by the mediocre
comfort factor. At least now I know that "lie flat" does not mean horizontal!

Boeing 747-400 : Business Class
Business angled lie-flat seats on Singapore Airlines. There is a way to avoid
slipping down in the angled flat position. Put your seat first in maximum
recline position and the push the button of your seat cushion to retract (should
be the arrow going right). The middle of your seat will be moving down - so you
will get a dent in your lying position, move it as deep as you like and your
hips or bottom will fit nice into the seat and you will no longer slip down the
seat.

SYD-SIN-SYD. I found that the Spacebed was extremely uncomfortable, and the food
should have been alot better for business class. Thai Airways are more
comfortable and the service is fantastic. You can actually sleep in their

LHR-SIN-LHR. Agree with other comments here. The Spacebed is very poor. I can
live with the meagre amenities pack, while the food, entertainment and service
were excellent. However, I found that there wasn't enough shoulder room with the
seat in any position other than fully upright or fully flat. When fully flat, of
course, I slipped down to the floor and couldn't sleep! I also found the control
panel less than obvious to understand. SIN-BNE-SIN flights on the 777-200 with
ordinary seats was overall far more comfortable. To sum up - either install
proper flat beds, or stick with seats. Don't try this halfway house.

I found the seat too short and, like others have said, I found myself slipping

LHR-SIN-MEL return. Have to say I was a little disappointed by the SQ Spacebed -
felt as if I was sliding down towards the floor and struggled to sleep. I also
found it difficult to get in and out of the seat when it was fully extended. I
did find the capsule-type hoods encapsulating the seat a bonus though, as it
added that little extra privacy and blocked out stray light etc. However, my
biggest disappointment was the seat became jammed twice whilst flying to
Singapore. This then involved calling a helpful FA who had to remove the seat
cushions and pull some kind of cord which reset the seat to the upright
position. When it occurred a second time, another FA deemed the seat defective
and moved me to another seat in the cabin.

A reasonable flat-style sleeper seat. Controls are somewhat complicated and it
has a very high basic seating position. Seat reclines to an 8 degree residual
angle so the old song- 'Slip sliding away' is relevant if you are not
appropriately dressed to make sure you do not slip down.

LAX-TPE-LAX en route to BKK. Left LAX Christmas night. I thought the seats were
very comfortable and very space efficient. I found that it was easier to sleep
with the seat not fully reclined. In fact I'd been asleep most of the trip when
I discovered that it went even further flat. I did feel the sensation of almost
sliding towards the floor on the ride back to LA as it was extra bumpy and I
attempted to sleep on my side. However, I adjusted the seat belt tightly just
below my hips and it kept me firmly in place without making me feel trapped.
