SIA Singapore Airlines First Class and Business Class
seat reviews

BUSINESS CLASS : the newest Business class seat from SIA is currently ranked as one of the world's
best for overall comfort and space. Arranged as pod style seat units, each seat has a good degreee
of privacy, and also offers the widest business class seat on the market. In the
sitting / relaxing position, the seat is comfortable - although the very wide
seat cushion combined with leather seat cover does mean that you can slide
around somewhat. The seat cushioning is very firm, and on longest flights this
can cause a somewhat sore backside in the sitting position. The seat comes into
its own when converted to the flat bed layout, and although you then sleep at a
slight angle across the seat pod area, it does afford a great deal of space,
comfort and privacy. A lot of thought in the design - a table that adjusts if you want to sit up in bed and have breakfast! Score : 9/10
FIRST CLASS : the new SIA first class seats are an enlarged version of the new Business class
seat as described above, with the difference that the flat bed layout provides a longer and wider sleeping area
and enhanced comfort. A lot of little extra design features make this one of the best F class seats currently
operating. Overall score : 9/10 |

SFO to ICN: Fantastic sleeping flat beds!! Great cabin service & entertainment choices; Oddly enough
even though I had my "do not disturb" light on, I was woken up for a meal on each leg. Other than
this one minor detraction, the service was great.

SYD-SIN The seat is quite roomy. I found you do not have a wide choice of
reclined positions. The service was fantastic I found no problems with the food.
The washroom was quite big. The snack bar was very disappointing. Krisworld was
fantastic a great variety of movies. However, the selection of television shows
was quite poor. I find that the normal Raffles Class seat is much better than
the A380 Business Class. |

The suites are essentially cabins - 12 in all - and provide privacy and comfort
unsurpassed. They include a full flat bed, a work station and a 23 inch LCD TV
with hundreds of entertainment options. The seats measure 81 inches (pitch) x
35 inches across when the armrest is folded away. Upon checking in, I was
advised that I was the lone occupant in the suites. Apparently, the SIN-SYD has
proven to be a more popular route with suite passengers. Following meal service,
the flight attendant offered to convert the seat to a full bed. Oddly enough,
the seat reclines only slightly so to fully recline, you need to have the seat
converted to a full bed. This is a rather complicated process that needs to be
done by the flight attendant. service sets a new standard in comfort for premium
class travel.

MXP-SIN. Very nice but this seat is for sleeping, not sitting; it's too narrow
under the thighs and too upright. However, the privacy and massive TV are
unsurpassed. 777 nice and quiet and leather covered toilet seats a nice touch!

I had hoped that by March 2008, flying JFK-FRA-SIN-EWR would have at least
provided one opportunity for the new business class, but still the sloping bed
the whole way!!! The great service didn't overcome the disappointment of
constantly sliding to the bottom while trying to sleep.

Sydney to Singapore - upper deck in the small cabin in the front of the plane, this is the place to
be. The cabin is pleasant, and the noise level, is not there - it is extremely silent and pleasant.

BCN-SIN. Seat 11A and back in the 11K. The small forward cabin is quieter and nicer, but the seat is
not that fantastic. It's really good if you want to sleep, it becomes completely flat and it's
really wide and long enough. But if you want to keep yourself seated and either working or watching
movies it's just not that good. Try always to take these seats or 13 row as the bed is wider at the
foot part.

Singapore Airlines new Business Class product has seats across in a 1-2-1 arrangement. It
guarantees access to the aisle wherever you're seated, but the seat is almost too wide for comfort!
The fully flat bed is formed not by mechanical extension but by folding down the backrest which
extends to the footrest. The flight attendant cheerfully made up the bed and I got almost six hours
sleep. I was in seat 11A, just behind First Class, and highly recommend this row.

FRA-SIN the new business class. Visually the seat looks enormous and very comfortable and for the
first coupe of houRS it was. The problems started when the VOD system crashed soon after take off and
was out for a couple of hours. During the flight the stewardess helped me rotate my seat to the flat
position meaning I had to get up whilst she did this. After 20 minutes I asked her to rotate back to
the seating position: something to do with the slight angle meaning you are not parallel with the
cabin. SIN-BNE the very old business class, some what like a big comfy armchair. Decent recline.
SIN-FRA flying with my favoured Spacebeds. Excellent VOD, very comfortable seat which I am in control
of and do not need to bother the stewardess to reconfigure it. I don't rate the new business seats
but this doesn't distract from the absolutely top quality, personal service from the CSD, purser and
stewardesses. Singapore Airlines still offer the best business experience in the skies. |

Seat, Food, Service all top-shelf. New Business Class seat in unparalleled, though I agree it is not
the most comfortable in a standard sitting position! When possible, opt for rows 11 or 12 (A or K).
Mini cabin behind 1st class only has 8 seats. |

These seats are huge and go totally flat, but they are quite uncomfortable in the sitting position and
in lie-flat mode they are hard, though probably ok for most. The seat-belt is very annoying in lie
flat position. The controls on the Krisworld system are twitchy (older ones are much better) and it is
easy to make the wrong selection. |

SYD/SIN business class in 747-400. Very comfortable. After all the hype of the "New business Class"
was disappointed on next flight SIN-IST with old fashioned semi-reclining seats in 777-300. Decided to
pay extra (on BA) to fly BCN/LHR so that we could fly back to SYD in the SQ 747-400. The service by SQ
on board was excellent as expected though and the flat (angled) seats in the 747-400 gave my wife and
me no trouble. |

Singapore to San Francisco (via Seoul), and was disappointed. Without doubt its the best bed in the
sky, but when you spend 18-20 hours on a seat, you are at best sleeping for half that time. The
screen is great in terms of clarity, but can be taxing on the eyes. Other than for sleeping, I have to
say that the Singapore Airlines New First Class is disappointing. |
